The Decatur Town Center Plan 2.0 is the first holistic and comprehensive look at the heart of the community since the original 1982 Town Center Plan kicked off downtown’s transformation into a nationally recognized district. Almost 40 years later, downtown retains the humanity and warmth described in the 1982 plan, harboring both an intimate small-town with the qualities and vibrancy of a dense urban community. The challenges faced by downtown are both different and familiar, yet the opportunities we will envision for its future will reflect the values and priorities of our current Decatur community.
